A High-Efficiency Miles Card for Southeast Asia Travel

The UOB PRVI Miles Elite Credit Card is positioned as a regionally optimised miles card, designed for cardholders who frequently spend in Southeast Asia and prioritise mileage efficiency over broad lifestyle privileges. Compared to UOB’s Visa Infinite, the PRVI Miles Elite places greater emphasis on cost-per-mile optimisation, particularly for overseas transactions.

The card’s strongest feature lies in its overseas earning structure. Cardholders earn 12X UNI$ Reward Miles (UNIRM) for every RM1 spent in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. Spending in other countries earns 10X UNIRM per RM1, while airline transactions earn 5X UNIRM. Local spending earns a base rate of 1X UNIRM per RM1. When paired with the current redemption requirement of 12,000 UNIRM per airline mile, spending in the core Southeast Asia markets effectively delivers a cost per mile close to RM1, placing it among the most efficient publicly available miles cards in Malaysia.

Lounge access is more selective compared to premium Visa Infinite offerings. Cardholders receive up to 8 complimentary Plaza Premium Lounge visits per year, limited to the principal cardholder only, across selected locations including Malaysia (KLIA Terminal 1), Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Indonesia, Cambodia and the United Arab Emirates. While the network is narrower than DragonPass-based access, it remains adequate for travellers whose routes align with these destinations.

The card also includes the Grab Ride Home Programme, offering complimentary Grab rides from KLIA Terminal 1. Eligibility requires the completion of a minimum of three overseas transactions within the past 45 days. Cardholders may redeem up to two rides per month, capped at RM80 per ride, with any excess charged to the card. This benefit is structured as a convenience feature rather than a full airport transfer solution.

Additional benefits include a 60,000 UNIRM bonus upon annual fee payment, travel personal accident coverage of up to RM300,000, and access to periodic promotional earn campaigns, such as bonus UNIRM on selected online travel platforms, subject to prevailing terms and conditions.

The minimum income requirement is RM100,000 per annum. The principal card carries an annual fee of RM600. Effective 1 January 2026, the annual fee is waived with a minimum annual spend of RM50,000, calculated over the 12 months preceding the fee charge date.

Verdict: The UOB PRVI Miles Elite is best suited for frequent Southeast Asia travellers who value mileage efficiency over comprehensive lifestyle benefits. Its exceptional cost-per-mile performance in core regional markets makes it a stronger choice than UOB Visa Infinite for users with heavy spending in Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. However, those who prioritise wider lounge access and premium ground services may find the Visa Infinite more balanced.

Pros

  • Exceptional 12X UNIRM earning in key Southeast Asia markets
  • One of the lowest cost-per-mile structures available publicly
  • Plaza Premium Lounge access at selected international locations
  • 60,000 UNIRM bonus upon annual fee payment
  • Annual fee waiver achievable with realistic spend

Cons

  • Limited lounge network compared to DragonPass-based cards
  • Lounge access restricted to principal cardholder only
  • Local spending earns only base miles
  • Grab Ride Home limited to KLIA Terminal 1 only
  • Less suitable for users who value lifestyle perks over miles efficiency
