A Split Rewards Card with Limited Practical Upside
The RHB Rewards Credit Card is an entry-level points card with a minimum annual income requirement of RM24,000. Its rewards structure is split into two separate systems: LoyaltyPlus Points for overseas spending, and Loyalty Points for local category-based spending.
Overseas transactions earn 4x LoyaltyPlus Points, while local spending earns Loyalty Points at varying rates, including up to 10x for cinema entertainment, 3x for online spend, and 2x for health, insurance, and shopping. While the headline multipliers appear attractive, the practical value is limited. High multipliers apply to low-frequency or low-ticket categories, and the effective cost per mile for Loyalty Points remains uncompetitive compared to other entry-level cards.
The card supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay. It carries an annual fee of RM200, waived for the first year and subsequently waived with a minimum annual spend of RM10,000.
Verdict: This card may appeal to users who prefer points over cashback and have occasional overseas spending. However, given its split rewards system and modest real-world value, there are generally more straightforward and rewarding alternatives within the same income bracket.
Pros
- Low income requirement with Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay support
Cons
- Split rewards system with limited high-value earning opportunities
