Review

Overseas Cashback with a Tight Ceiling

The PB Quantum Mastercard Credit Card mirrors its Visa counterpart in structure but shifts its focus toward overseas spending. With a RM36,000 income requirement and lifetime annual fee waiver, it remains highly accessible.

The headline feature is 2% cashback on overseas transactions, subject to a minimum RM100 per transaction and capped at RM20 per monthly statement cycle. While 2% is respectable on paper, the cap limits total cashback to a maximum of RM20 per month, reducing its impact for frequent travellers.

For other retail spending, the card earns 1x VIP Point locally, with points valid for three years. Additional protection comes in the form of e-Commerce Purchase Protection, covering eligible online transactions up to USD200 per claim annually.

Verdict: A simple overseas cashback card with no holding cost, suitable for light foreign currency spending. However, the tight cashback cap means it functions better as a supplementary card rather than a primary overseas spend solution.
