The Same Visa Infinite, With a Manchester United Skin
The Maybank Manchester United Visa Infinite is a co-branded variant of the standard Maybank Visa Infinite, sharing the same eligibility requirements, annual fee structure, lounge access framework, and base rewards mechanics. Rather than positioning itself as an upgrade or downgrade, this card differentiates solely through Manchester United–specific perks layered on top of an otherwise identical Visa Infinite foundation.
In terms of core rewards, the card mirrors the standard Visa Infinite, earning 5 TreatsPoints per RM1 spent overseas, 2 TreatsPoints per RM1 spent locally, and 1 TreatsPoint on selected categories such as utilities, petrol, education, EzyPay and insurance. Transactions involving government bodies, JomPay, FPX and e-wallet reloads do not earn points, consistent with Maybank’s broader TreatsPoints rules.
The Manchester United differentiation appears in two areas. First, cardholders earn 10x TreatsPoints on purchases made via the Official Manchester United Online Megastore, offering enhanced value for fans who regularly buy club merchandise. Second, when Manchester United wins a Premier League match, groceries spending made on the match day earns 5x TreatsPoints. This match-day bonus does not stack with other earn rates and applies only on that specific day, making it largely symbolic rather than a reliably optimisable rewards feature.
Airport lounge access is identical to the standard Visa Infinite, providing 5 complimentary visits per year to Plaza Premium Lounge locations (including selected Aerotel and Travel Club facilities) as well as Sky Lounge at Subang Airport. Access is limited to the principal cardholder, with no spending requirement needed to unlock lounge usage.
Additional benefits include concierge services, travel insurance coverage of up to RM2 million, selected golf privileges, dining discounts at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties, and a suite of Manchester United fan privileges, such as discounts at the official club store, Red Café at Old Trafford, and stadium and museum tours.
Verdict: The Maybank Manchester United Visa Infinite should be viewed as the same Visa Infinite card in a Manchester United wrapper. It makes sense for cardholders who are already comfortable with the Visa Infinite proposition and place value on club-specific perks and fan identity. For non-fans, the standard Visa Infinite offers the same functional benefits without the themed additions.
